The End is Near...

Tomorrow is my last day at Rails-to-Trails. I enjoy it so much there, and will be very sad having to leave tomorrow afternoon. But on to the next chapter in my life, I suppose. There is much to look forward to this summer.
My family came to visit last week, which was very much needed and we had some fun!
The weather has been beautiful (thought the 85 degrees today was a little overkill) so we enjoyed it Saturday evening with a picnic lunch on the grass.
Enjoy the photos!!

It's been a while...

Ok, so I know it's been a while since I've updated. And I apologize. But here are some photos from the past few weeks! We've done a bunch of site visits to housing projects and development organizations. Some of the photos below are from the Fredrick Douglass house in historic Anacostia. I've also been spending a lot of time with my new friends! We haven't done much sight seeing because it's been cold, but now that the weather is getting better I'm sure we'll be visiting the monuments again. It's 62 and sunny right now! Enjoy the photos....

Oh, and I have a tour of the white house tomorrow morning, but we can't bring cameras. So there won't be any photos of that :(

Congress!

Today I went to a congressional hearing about predatory lending and forclosures.
Reverend Jesse Jackson spoke. It was pretty awesome.
We ate lunch in the senate cafeteria. Very overwhelming.
But, I didn't take any pictures. Sorry!
I'll update again soon.

Dinner and Development

So I'm absolutely exhausted. And some of us are off to the hill at 7am tomorrow for a congressional hearing. Anyways... here are some photos from the last week or so.
We went out to dinner last Friday at Martin's Tavern in Georgetown. This past week we visited the Anacostia waterfront and spoke with organizations that are redeveloping the area. I thought it was amazing, and the Anacostia Waterfront Corporation is defenitely some place I could see myself working. Enjoy the photos!

Long Day...

Here are some random photos from today. The first is kids at Bright Beginnings, a day care for homeless children where I might be volunteering. They were adorable. Then, Renee, Me, and Ariana on the Metro, some cute row houses in Adams Morgan, and some girls from the group on the Duke Ellington memorial bridge.
